Yesterday brought some much needed good news to the Benedict camp, and no we do not mean the team escaped the cellar for the first time in three days. Ted Lilly, who struggled in his first two starts this year, was stellar last night in L.A.'s 4-2 win over Atlanta. Lilly pitched 7 shutout innings and allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks while fanning 6 for his first win this year. The outing lowered his ERA from the stratosphere to a more respectable 4.09, and is more what we expected for his $16 contract for this year.
In other good news, Philadelphia's uber-prospect Domonic Brown was a robust 2-3 in a five inning extending spring training game at the Phillies' Clearwater complex. Brown fractured the hamate bone in his right wrist in an early March contest and is recovering from surgery. Expectations are that Brown, who is making a speedy recovery, will begin a minor league rehab assignment next week before rejoining the Phillies in May.
