Who's Hot & Who's Not

The Benedicts are in second place this Memorial Day weekend, but the pitching staff resembling an emergency room more than a pitching staff, the team is taking nothing for granted.

Who's Hot?

Freddy Sanchez has hit .422/.460/.533 with 6 RBI in the last two weeks, raising his season average to .298.

Jose Reyes is hitting .346/.404/.423 with 7 RBI and 5 steals in the last two weeks. Reyes is hitting .324 with 18 stolen bases this year, but is no kinda ballplayer according to Met owner Fred Wilpon, the man who apparently though Bernie Madoff was some kinda investment advisor. A more ringing endorsement entering his free agent season Reyes will not find.

Mike Stanton hit .264/.368/.624 in May with 9 home runs and 19 RBI.

Seth Smith is hitting .406/.486/.781 over his last 10 games with 2 home runs and 2 steals. Smith is hitting .306 this year, but is an anemic .214 against southpaws in only 28 at bats.

Chris Iannetta hit 7-22 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI this week. The Rockie catcher has hit .288 in may, raising his average to .242 after a very poor April.

Recent FAAB acquisition, Ryan Vogelsong, has a 0.64 ERA in two starts with the Benedicts. He has not earned his first Benedict win, however.

Mike Adams picked up his first save since 2005 on May 16 against the Diamondbacks.

Ian Kennedy is 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA and 0.944 ratio in his last for starts.

Homer Bailey was 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA and a 0.967 ratio in his first five starts after missing April with an injury. Now the LaGrange, Texas, native has landed on the disabled list again with a sprained posterior capsule in his right shoulder.

Brad Lincoln is 4-1 with a 2.03 ERA in his last five starts at AAA Indianapolis.

Who's Not?

Matt Holliday is 2-23 in his last 9 games - the Cardinal outfielder has been battling a left quad injury for the last two weeks.

Andre Ethier has followed his .385 April with a .223 May.

Danny Espinosa has hit .171/.284/.439 in May. The good news is that 5 of his 14 hits have been round-trippers.
