Charlie Blackmon is a Benedict

The Benedicts acquired Colorado outfielder Charlie Blackmon for $12 in today's FAAB. Blackmon, 24, figures to see some playing time in Denver following Dexter Fowler's demotion to Colorado Springs.

Blackmon is a Georgia Tech product and a second round selection for Colorado in the 2008 amateur draft. Blackmon has rocked through the Rockie system, hitting .338 for short-season Tri-City in 2008, .307 for Modesto in 2009 and .297/.360/.474 for Tulsa last year. He was hitting .337/.393/.572 in 58 games for the Sky Sox when the call came.

Here is a more detailed analysis on Blackmon by John Sickles at his Minor League Ball.

Blackmon is hitting .217 with an RBI and two stolen bases in six games so far - the Benedicts waived minor league catcher George Kottaras, and demoted Rick Ankiel to give Blackmon an active roster spot this week.
